Irish Sacred Wells

About Rosaleen

Irish Sacred Wells Tours was started in 2017 by Rosaleen Durkin.

Her  passion for the ancient pilgrim paths and holy wells of Co. Wicklow has grown from a hobby into a small business that has allowed her to share this knowledge with others; locals residents, international groups, academics and artists.

In Ireland, there has long been a tradition of water worship and ritual in both pre-Christian and Christian cultures. These wells were at the heart of that spiritual ecosystem, and I felt compelled to study them further.

Rosaleen Durkin

Rosaleen started her career as a primary school teacher in 1984. She became a qualified kinesiology practitioner in 1992 and has run a successful clinical practice for over 30 yrs. In 2001 she became co-director of Brightchild Productions Ltd and designer and co-author of the ImaginationGYM® Methodology and programs for children. This new venture enabled her to bring her knowledge and experience from both the classroom and the clinic to a new forum. She has give lectures and educational papers around the world.

In 2010 she moved to Glendalough, Co. Wicklow and developed a deep connection with the landscape and history of the place. She co-founded a community-based group with the aim of documenting, researching and restoring about 30 of the total 120 holy wells in the county. Often set in beautiful but hidden locations, many of the holy wells were completely overgrown and neglected, and in some cases in danger of being lost forever. Researching and documenting these sites  introduced her to some fascinating people, and recording the lore and traditions from the older generations has become a passion.

ImaginationGYM

The ImaginationGYM® methodology is based on leading edge educational and cognitive theories with imagination at its core. It is designed to integrate with both formal and informal educational and childcare systems. It can also be used for both children and adults in healthcare environments and hospices. The intensive research and development phase has been supported by a number of academics, psychologists and educational institutions worldwide.

Kinesiology Practice

Kinesiology (Muscle Biofeedback Testing) is based on the acupuncture system. It is used to detect and correct imbalances in the body. This is a non-invasive and painless process. The testing works on the physical, emotional and mental balance of the client. It also identifies what the client’s body needs with mineral, vitamin, and herbal remedies support as identified. Kinesiology can be used on all ages from babies to the elderly. Support is given in a comprehensive and easy to follow treatment plan.
